It won't happen in a public format because Novell doesn't have anything to gain for it.

Don't give up hope though, there is signs that Novell is listening, if not to me, then to the overall market movement that is happening.

The good news is that Novell management in the past would still be dictating their position instead of moving to adjust to the market.Richard Blisshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06711443052326619281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10118571.post-54710674988053324002008-04-16T05:25:00.000-07:002008-04-16T05:25:00.000-07:00What I would like to see is a high level executive...What I would like to see is a high level executive from Novell comment on your perceptions.

Well, heck, it's election time. How about a full-on 'face-to-face' debate?

Would Novell have too much to lose to make such a discussion public? Or would Novell not choose to do so on the pretext that criticism of your views may cause you embarassment? ;)

Or perhaps the image is more along the lines that you, as a 'maverick marketer', would be seen to be strutting down the dusty road for a shootout at High Noon?

Personally, I think Novell have more to lose by ignoring your ideas, just like so many within Novell ignored reality for so long. We watched it from the outside for so long.

Another (perhaps related) thing which baffles me is that I just don't get their new Web site. The black menu with white surrounds causes far too much contrast and contravenes basic laws of visual perception, let alone marketing perception. And what's the idea of having uncomfortable animated images of people loitering and fidgeting on their front page?

If Novell is attempting to copy the IBM site, they just need to do a better job. I personally really like the IBM site and others have echoed these sentiments. I have read some of what others have said about Novell's site and it was overwhelmingly uncomplementary.

Richard, do you think am I being too critical (gosh, after all, there is so much we should do better) about the Web site design?Greg Bellnoreply@blogger.com
